How to create an engaging online conferencing presentation, from anywhere.

We might not all be digital natives, but today’s tech offers the opportunity to overcome physical barriers to conferencing, and provide high quality communication for delegates, wherever they may in the global village. Event Options is committed to ensuring technology delivers every time.
Communicate with your team first

It is so important to keep your culture and remind staff of your values regularly.  We may be isolated, but we should not be lonely. We know from all the great gurus that you should market more in a time of crisis. Now is the time to connect with your customers. Obviously be sympathetic to the current situation and incorporate this into your topics, but now is not the time for silence.

Support speakers

Speakers need as much support with onboarding. Event managers can include more onboarding sessions to make sure speakers are as comfortable facing a camera as they would have been facing an auditorium. Event Managers should be focusing more on social media as part of the plan to promote their events.

Even MDs need a bit of guidance on delivering their message on video conferences.  Don’t be afraid to make suggestions on where they should sit, what they should wear. A bright shirt has more impact than a plain white shirt. When in doubt, wear a collared shirt.

Just as you would plan the invite, so you should be planning the survey and thank you for joining us mail. Consider if you are going to share the content and be sure to include a call for action if you want to continue the conversation.

Presentation Lessons We Have Learnt
  • It takes longer than you think.
  • Speakers need time for individual dry runs. They need more time to feel comfortable.
  • Explain dress code to speakers and their camera position (this is more important than one would think)
  • A confident host / MC is important to introduce event. You may need to hire a professional.
  • You need to switch up the tempo regularly with new slides, video, polling Q&As.
  • Shorter and snappier presentations are the way to go. Unclutter your presentation and remove the extra slides.
  • Consider professionally editing your video and sharing a shortened version within 24 hours after the online event.
  • Appoint an admin person to manage the chat function. Swift responses keep the momentum going
  • Even if you are not ready… just do it. You would be surprised to see how hungry your audience is for information and engagement.
